Ένας φτωχός άντρας (Παντελής Ζερβός) του οποίου η γυναίκα πεθαίνει στον τοκετό, δίνει τη νεογέννητη κόρη του σε έναν πλούσιο (Θόδωρος Έξαρχος), με τον όρο να μην αποκαλυφθεί ποτέ η αλήθεια στη σύζυγο (Καίτη Πάνου) του δεύτερου. Ο φυσικός πατέρας εργάζεται στο σπίτι του πλούσιου ως κηπουρός για να βλέπει την κόρη του. Μεγαλώνοντας η κόρη (Άννα Ιασωνίδου) θα ερωτευτεί ένα νεαρό (Θάνος Λειβαδίτης) τον οποίο ο πατέρας της έχει πάρει υπό την προστασία του, και παρά τις αντιρρήσεις των θετών γονιών της τελικά τον παντρεύεται.
