Synopsis
Lucas Marsh an idealistic and driven young medical student desperately needs money to continue his education. Learning that Kristina Hedvigson, head OR nurse at the university hospital, has saved a great deal of money, he begins to romance her. Kristina falls in love with him, and, although aware that Lucas will always put his career ahead of his personal relationships, agrees to pay for the remainder of his tuition. Despite lingering moral reservations about his actions, Lucas marries Kristina. Lucas continues his studies. His idealism leads him to arrogantly criticize friends, classmates, and doctors who fail to measure up to his exacting standards of professionalism. He is unwilling to accept the view that doctors are ordinary, fallible people like everyone else; to Lucas, a doctor, dealing with human life, must be a paragon.
