Synopsis
(1940) Carol Reed's fast-moving WW2 propaganda spy thriller stars Rex Harrison as Gus Bennett, a British secret agent who goes undercover in Germany to rescue Czechs Anna Bomasch (Margaret Lockwood) and her metallurgist father Axel (James Harcourt) from their Nazi kidnappers, who are after his secrets, which could change the course of the war. Written by the team responsible for Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes , this is almost a sequel, even including comic Englishmen Charters and Caldicott, again played by Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne. Co-writer Sidney Gilliat wrote the classic Green for Danger , which is on tomorrow.
