Synopsis
Comic tale about an American scholar in Greece who becomes infatuated with a prostitute and sets about trying to 'improve' her. This variation of 'Pygmalion' won an Academy Award for its title song by composer Manos Hadjidakis, and garnered an Oscar nomination and international fame for its star Melina Mercouri, A carefree and fun-loving Greek prostitute meets an American tourist, who becomes infatuated with her as he tries to encourage her to embrace traditional Greek culture and be more sophisticated.
