En un futuro lejano todo se ha deshumanizado y está prohibido pensar y leer. Solo está permitido divertirse y ver telencéfalo, un sistema de transmisión de entretenimientos directo al cerebro del usuario. Hay una amenaza extraterrestre que advierte que si en el plazo de 30 días los gobernantes mundiales no consiguen que al menos el 85% de la población sea feliz, arrasarán con todo. El último poeta que queda en la Tierra (Narciso Ibáñez Menta) es encargado por la Sociedad de las Naciones para que asuma la dirección de la Humanidad, luego que todas los gobernantes hayan dimitido sus cargos. El poeta no sabe como dirigir el destino del mundo, pero cree que la felicidad está en las pequeñas cosas, y eso es lo que recomienda al mundo.
