My Gorilla Life

This is the story of a silverback Western Lowland Gorilla called Makumba, who has reigned supreme in the Congo forest for over 10 years. At the ripe old age of 32, he is in a battle with younger rivals to hold onto his harem of females. He fiercely defends them with terrifying displays of power but has let down his guard to one woman, who has spent a decade earning his trust. Angelique Todd has observed Makumba and his family, to understand the secrets of their society and discover how this most private of species survives. As this year's dramas unfold, we will witness the most intimate moments of Makumba's troop, seen through the eyes of the woman who knows them best.
