Nina, een jong meisje van 9 jaar, wordt door mama afgezet bij een afgelegen klein dorpje. Ze zal er een korte vakantie doorbrengen bij haar oudere nicht Maren en haar vriendje Marco. Al van bij de eerste ontmoeting wordt het meisje tot over haar oren verliefd op de zevenentwintigjarige Marco. Dat wordt meteen de start van een naïeve en onschuldige, maar voor de kleine Nina grootse onmogelijke liefde. Wanneer ze geconfronteerd wordt met deze compleet onbekende gevoelens , weet Nina zich maar moeilijk een houding te geven. Dus besluit ze het gedrag van haar oudere nicht zo goed mogelijk te kopiëren. De film wil een ontdekkingstocht zijn doorheen deze nieuwe emoties en situaties, helemaal verteld vanuit de beleving van het meisje.
