Synopsis

Humorous happenings behind the scenes at a crisis hot line provide the laughter in this comedy based on a French hit movie. The center, Lifesavers, located in Venice California, is operated by Philip. Upon the outside sign it announces with pride the number of people it has saved. But while the place is designed to help others it is plain to see that it is the staff counselors who really need the help. Included on staff are the over-emotional Catherine, a lonely woman who dreams of her shiny rescuing Knight while still living with her mother, and Blanch Munchnik a widow with a sharp tongue. When the holidays come, it is Lifesavers itself that needs the lifesaving as the landlord is threatening to boot them out if they don't pay a large amount of money. As they try to come up with the cash, the place is constantly bombarded by an assortment of mixed nuts including an Amazonian transvestite.
