Movie
Mediterranea
Synopsis
Two African immigrants, Ayiva (Koudous Seihon) and Abas (Alassane Sy), arrive in Italy in the hope of finding a better life, but instead encounter resentment from the locals. The two friends are filled with idealistic notions of Italy, only to quickly discover a harsh reality: They are forced to live in makeshift settlements, and although they are able to find jobs packing fruit, they have difficulty obtaining the official papers that will allow them to stay in the country. The men also face racial tensions in the community that escalate into violence. Directed by Jonas Carpignano, who expanded Mediterranea from his 2012 short film A Chjana.
