On August 7, 1974, a 23-year-old Frenchman took the whole world by surprise when he walked on a thin wire strung between the Twin Towers, over 400 meters above the ground. Philippe Petit had been dreaming about the towers for six years and had spent eight months in New York planning the masterstroke.
