Nicht nur für eingefleischte Maffay-Fans war die 96-er Tour die bis dato beste Tour in der Karriere von Peter Maffay. Somit ist die dazugehörige CD ein tolles Dokument dieser Konzerte. Nach einem ungefähr halbstündigen Medley mit bekannten Klassikern der 60-er und 70-er Jahre(Beatles,Stones...) folgt der Übergang zu Maffays Anfangszeiten. So erstrahlen Songs wie "Und es war Sommer" oder "So bist du" in halbakustischer Version in neuem Licht. Selbst das unsägliche "Du" weiß einigermaßen zu gefallen. Danach folgt der brachiale Übergang in das Jahr 1996 und den Songs aus dem gleichnamigen Album. Gegen Schluß hin werden wieder alte Maffay-Perlen aus den Jahren 1980-1990 dargeboten. Kurzum: ein perfekte Mischung, die das musikalische Schaffen von Peter Maffay eindrucksvoll demonstriert. Anspieltip: die fast 10-minütige Version von "Sonne in der Nacht" sowie die hymnische Liveversion von "Eiszeit".
