Los Demonios de Eden

A human rights journalist living in Mexico sacrifices her own safety in an effort to expose an expansive pedophile ring, and documentary filmmaker Alejandra Islas follows the writer's harrowing journey as the authorities launch a concerted effort to silence her at all costs. It was shortly after the publication of her book Demons of Eden back in 2005 that human rights journalist Lydia Cacho was first arrested by police. The mission of Cacho's book was to provide a voice for the women and children of Cancun who had fallen victim to a corrupted system, and were no longer able to speak for themselves. But while the primary targets of Cacho's damning tome appeared to be businessmen Jean Saccar Kuri and Kamel Nacif Borge, the various politicians and authority figures who had worked with those two to cover up their crimes were also desperate to silence the outspoken whistleblower. Over the course of the next eighteen months, the journalist would wage a fierce battle to prove her innocence, expose the atrocities being committed on the women and children of Mexico, and condemn those who would attempt to cover up their deplorable crimes by making the innocent suffer.
