Synopsis
In April 2004, Ewan McGregor and his best friend Charley Boorman embarked on a grueling quest to motorbike from London to New York the Long Way Round. In places as diverse as Novosbirsk and Ulan Ude they sample horse milk and play goat polo, not to mention braving a journey along the ominous 'Road Of Bones.' Using state of the art technology to record their own progress, Ewan and Charley travel through countries including Russia, Mongolia, Siberia and Alaska, taking in the sights and experiencing local cultures. But this is no jaunt. The trip covers some of the most inhospitable corners of the world where minus temperatures, nonexistent road surfaces and wild animals are real dangers. For these reasons, the pair underwent extensive survival training in the run up to the tour including bushcraft with Ray Meers and mechanics with BMW. Primed and prepared, McGregor and Boorman set off on one the most ambitious journeys ever attempted.
