Synopsis
Writer and director Yu-Hsiu Camille Chen's drama uses the terminal recurrence of a cancer to explore the lives and attitudes of a family. When their mother Susan's breast cancer returns at the height of an Australian summer, she informs her family that she wants to enjoy her last Christmas with them - and she doesn't want them to turn maudlin on her. As they chat and reminisce, a window is opened on the emotional lives of Susan's somewhat remote husband James and her three grown-up daughters Nina, who is widowed with two young children; Anna, an aspiring actress unhappily married to a filmmaker; and Christine, a medical student who is yet to fully come to terms with her sexuality.
