Η Έλλη ζει μαζί με την άρρωστη μητέρα της και έναν μικροαπατεώνα, τον Λουκά, ο οποίος ενώ συνδέεται με την μητέρα της, δεν δείχνει καθόλου ενδιαφέρον για εκείνην. Ο αρραβωνιαστικός της Έλλης, αν και σπουδάζει γιατρός, τα βράδια τραγουδά σε κοσμική ταβέρνα για να επιβιώσει. Εκεί κάποιο βράδυ έρχεται ένας επιχειρηματίας με τη φιλενάδα του, τη Λιάνα, που γλυκοκοιτάζει τον αρραβωνιαστικό της Έλλης. Ο επιχειρηματίας προτείνει στον Λουκά να αναθέσει στην Έλλη να μεταφέρει πακετάκια με ναρκωτικά στους πελάτες του και εκείνη το κάνει νομίζοντας πως είναι φάρμακα.
