설악산 암벽 등반에서 한대원의 실수로 자일이 엉키고 전대원이 위기에 직면한다. 리더인 노진호는 대원 1명을 희생시켜 나머지 대원을 구출하였으나 심한 자책과 죄의식에 방황하게 된다. 이를 본 강교수는 자신이 6.25때 종군기자로 있을 때 젊은 청년이 사랑하는 애인을 두고 전선으로 갔다가 전사한 국가관이 투철한 김소위의 종군 수첩을 보여준다. 노진호는 김소위의 숭고한 조국애와 희생정신에 감동하여 같은 친구인 젊은 세대가 갖는 왜곡된 가치관을 깨닫고 투철한 국가관으로 조국수호에 헌신할 것을 다짐한다.
