Synopsis
A high school track star receives strange insight into the afterlife when he is repeatedly visited by the ghost of an unpopular classmate who perished under mysterious circumstances. Based on author Christopher Barzak's novel One for Sorrow, Jamie Marks is Dead opens to find upstate New York teen Gracie (Morgan Saylor) scavenging for rocks when she happens across the corpse of classmate Jamie Marks (Noah Silver), who led a lonely life on the bottom rungs of the social ladder. As local police launch their investigation into Jamie's death, popular runner Adam (Cameron Monaghan) experiences pangs of guilt over his own inaction upon seeing his late classmate bullied by their fellow students. Shortly after appearing to Grace in spectral form, Jamie also begins to haunt Adam, whose lingering guilt prompts him to begin communicating with the troubled apparition. Later, his relationship with Gracie intensifying as his relationship with his paralyzed single-mother (Liv Tyler) turns sour, Adam follows Jamie's advice and flees to an abandoned farmhouse, where he has a terrifying encounter with a malevolent spirit whose motivations appear to be much darker than those of the mournful Jamie. Judy Greer, Ryan Munzert, and Madisen Beaty co-star.
