Synopsis
The Planets, an A&E educational series, explores the universe through previously unreleased NASA footage, consultations with scientific specialists including astronomers and astronauts, and telescope and satellite images combined with computer-generated graphics and effects. Vol. 5: Star refers to the most influential star in our lives -- the sun-- and the way it relates to others in the galaxy. From eclipses to the northern lights, scientific effects of the sun are discussed alongside theories of devotion to the sun as god by ancient cultures. It is appropriate for middle school and high school classes on science, technology, astronomy, and world history.
