Vertical Hell

On the last leg of the 3,000-mile journey, the explorers must summit a massive mountain of rock and ice in the Juneau Icefield. But as a final farewell gift, Alaska throws a punishing winter storm in their way. Snow, sleet and hail pound the men as they desperately push forward. No one will turn back, but some might die trying. As the storm intensifies, whiteout conditions threaten to separate the group, which could leave some explorers stranded without supplies. Expert mountain climber Willi Prittie takes control of the crew from the start. Together with survivalist Austin Manelick, the two blaze a trail to base camp just below the summit. Mountain man Marty Raney, his son Matt and ice climber Tyler Johnson also team up. Collectively, they've lost many good friends on mountains with similar arctic conditions. They proceed cautiously up the icy ridges, but when one wrong step nearly sends Marty over the edge, the men question whether or not they can make it to the summit. Iditarod champion Dallas Seavey, his brother Tyrell and Brent Sass build a snow cave where they can stay warm and preserve energy.
