Synopsis
When investigative journalist Matt Barber is found dead in a remote village, Banks and his team are faced with a number of leads. Then Banks notices a connection between the case and a mysterious death in the 1980s involving members of a cult rock band. As he begins to unpick decades of lies, he is all too aware that the victim's father is Jack Barber, a former senior police officer and candidate in local police commissioner elections. Despite his formidable reputation, DI Helen Morton is convinced that Jack is obstructing the enquiry in some way. Banks is shaken to the core when a link between a suspect and DS Annie Cabbot reveals secrets from her personal life which throw their relationship into question.
