Synopsis
The story of Aaron Westrick, a former cop-turned-director of research for Second Chance body armor. In the late 1990s, the company began using a lightweight synthetic material called Zylon in its bullet-proof vests. In July 2001, Toyobo, Zylon's Japanese manufacturer, sent the company a study that showed Zylon's effectiveness could be negatively affected by heat and humidity. Westrick concerns went unheeded, and he eventually worked with the Justice Department to resolve the matter.
