Synopsis

This critically acclaimed US comedy starring Zooey Deschanel makes its UK premiere on Channel 4. The series focuses around newly single Jess Day (Deschanel) who moves in with three single men after she discovers that her long-term boyfriend has been cheating on her. Jess is an unlikely addition to her new digs: Nick is still smarting from his own break-up; Schmidt is a ladies man who thinks it's a winning manoeuvre to remove his shirt at the drop of a hat; and Coach is a personal trainer with serious anger-management issues. At first, Nick, Schmidt and Coach are uncertain whether they want Jess - who is prone to bouts of crying and spontaneous singing - to move in with them but take her on when they realise that she'll give them an insight into the female mind. As their relationships progress, Jess and the guys come to realise they need each other more than they initially anticipated. In the first episode, Jess arrives at her new flat with an unusual line in house-warming gifts, including a Dirty Dancing DVD (which is on a constant loop) and a neat line in personal theme tunes. After days of watching Jess curled up in the fetal position watching Dirty Dancing, her new flatmates decide to stage an intervention - and get her back in the dating game.
