Synopsis
In 1998 Hugh left London behind for rural Dorset and his first attempt at a self-sufficient life at the original River Cottage. Five years on, he and his growing family decided to move to a nearby farm of their dreams. This series follows him as he gets to grips with the 44-acre the farm. The scale of the venture enables him to grow a lot more veg and livestock than his family needs, so Hugh grabs the opportunity to expand further. Beyond River Cottage charts his progress as he sets up a culinary headquarters/ food outlet, to sell his home-grown and home-reared produce direct to the public. In the first episode, having found a collection of muck-ridden and ramshackle barns in which to base his venture, he wonders if this time he's bitten off more than he can chew; Series.
