Synopsis
A wedding brings together old friends and leads to a series of romantic mishaps in this comedy. Carol (Lauren Velez) and Matt (Jamie Harrold) are a 20-something couple who have decided to get married. They first met while students at George Washington University, and the wedding seems as good a reason as any for a bunch of their old friends to have a reunion. Bob (Alexis Arquette), who now works as a writer for a soap opera, brings along his lover Sterling (Tuc Watkins), an actor from the show who is good-looking but vain and not especially bright. Brendan (Christian Maelen) has also brought a date, Sarah (Marianne Hagan), but while Bob has long been out of the closet, Brendan is just starting to peek his head out the door, and he has decided that the wedding is the time to let Bob know that he's had a mad crush on him for years. This comes as a big surprise to Bob and an even bigger one to Sarah; when Carol invites everyone back to her room for a get-together after the reception, Bob and Brendan end up sleeping together on the sofa-bed, which makes for a few changes in the plans of both Sarah and Sterling. I Think I Do was the first feature from writer/director Brian Sloan, following his acclaimed short subject Pool Days (which was also distributed as part of Boys Life, a compilation of gay themed short subjects). It also features a supporting performance from actress and singer Marni Nixon, in her first screen role since The Sound of Music in 1965.
