Husbands
Synopsis
A trio of suburban husbands have questions about their staid middle class existence after the death of their best friend. Harry (Ben Jazzier), Archie (Peter Flak) and Gush (John Casavettes) have a collective identity crisis and spend two days sleeping in the subway, playing basketball and drinking heavily. When Harry returns home and fights with his wife, he talks his buddies into flying to London. The three don tuxedos, deluding themselves into thinking they are suave and sophisticated playboys. They go to a posh gambling casino where they all try to pick up women, although Harry is the most reluctant about infidelity. After the cross Atlantic excursion, Harry decides to remain in London while Gush and Arches return to Long Island. The two quickly gather up souvenirs for their wives and kids as they attempt to smooth things over at home. Husbands debut at the 1970 San Francisco Film Festival at 154 minutes, with 18 minutes pruned in the later release.
