Hatachi No Binetsu
Synopsis
Ryosuke Hashiguchi directs this bleak character study about the life of a gay prostitute. Tatsuru (Yoshihiko Hakamata) lives a double life. By day, he is a college student who has attracted the attention of fellow marketing club member Yoshiko (Reiko Kataoka). By night, he works part time as a rent boy at a gay bar. There he has caught the eye of teenaged runaway and fellow male prostitute Shin (Masashi Endo). As the film progresses, both Yoshiko and Shin try to make better acquaintances with the blandly handsome protagonist, but learn that finding a connection with him beyond sex is near impossible. In spite of their advances, Tatsuru remains remote, caring for no one.
