How Long Is “Group”?

indie bands -- and a cast featuring some of their members -- Group is a mockumentary account of a queer-friendly therapy session that is populated by women who discuss topics as varied as sex, religion, abuse, family, and loneliness. With a cast that includes Sleater-Kinney's Carrie Brownstein and Ladyfest founder Nomy Lamm, the women in this improvised film laugh, cry, and bitch through a series of sessions over the course of 20 weeks. Among the subjects of discussion are one woman's attempt to understand why her father had an affair with a teenage student, one woman's unexpected pregnancy, and one group member's relationship with a pre-op transsexual. Group was screened at the 2002 Philadelphia International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.
