Synopsis
In 1975, young Cambodian mother Chou is separated from her 4-year-old son when the brutal Khmer Rouge regime rounds up millions of people into labor camps. Forced into slavery, Chou spends years fighting for survival in order to be reunited with her son, who in the meantime is being trained to be a soldier for the state.
