Die Studentenrevolte, der Aufbruch, die sexuelle Revolution, das lossagen vom Nachkriegsdeutschland der Täter und Mitwisser, das alles wurde in den letzten Jahren auf vielen Ebenen breit thematisiert, es wurde geforscht und unzählige Bücher und Filme hatten die „68er“ Bewegung zum Thema. Man kann sagen, mittlerweile gehört 1968 zum Gründungsmythos der Berliner Republik. Weithin unbekannt ist jedoch, dass nur kurze Zeit später, die Ideen und Forderungen der 68er sich in einer anderen Jugendbewegung manifestieren sollten. In den frühen 70er Jahren versuchten tausende von Jugendlichen in Westdeutschland in ihren Städten und Gemeinden selbstverwaltete Jugendzentren und Jugendhäuser zu etablieren, um sich eigene Treffpunkte zur Freizeitgestaltung ohne Konsumzwang und ohne Kontrolle durch die Elterngeneration zu schaffen.
