Eraserhead
Synopsis
Intense, surreal and filled with puzzling images fraught with meaning, Eraserhead marks the feature film directorial debut of David Lynch. With the definite quality of a nightmare, the story is set in a dreadful future and centers on the life of Henry Spencer who lives in a grim, ramshackle apartment surrounded by pollutant-spewing factories. Like many, he has been lobotomized and doesn't have much of a life. He frequently hallucinates with every "sin" he commits manifesting itself as a strange little worm. His lover is spastic young Mary, and with her he creates a hellish, horribly deformed child that never ceases crying. Since its initial release in 1978, Eraserhead has developed a loyal cult following.
