How Long Is “Encarnación”?

Although Jack returns to Encarnación, the village in Paraguay where we imagine he spent his childhood, it is first and foremost the triggering event for a stage. A voyage like a passage. In his mother’s small flat, he is the only man among women. In the streets of his town, he is a stranger in a world that should be familiar to him. In the forest, he is alone in the face of the forces of nature. Both fully present here and yet completely elsewhere, he looks for the tangible elements of a reality that is escaping him: he tries to find the place he was when he learnt of the death of his grandmother, although he was on another continent….
