Dragon
Synopsis
The clay-animation weekly Dragon was based on a series of children's books by Dav Pilkey ("Captain Underpants", "Dumb Bunnies" etc). The titular dragon was a short, stout, helpful, warmhearted and irresistibly cute blue dragon. Each episode found Dragon embarking upon an imaginary adventure, often getting into trouble but invariably providing fresh new insights on the world at large to the series' 3-to-5-year old target audience. Other characters included Dragon's friends Ostrich, Beaver and Mailmouse. A Canadian-German-South Korean coproduction drawing upon the facilities Scholastic Books, Big Tent Entertainment, Cite-Amerique, Scopas Medien AG and Image Plus, Dragon yielded twenty-six 12-minute and one hundred and four 2 1/2 minute episodes, the first of which aired in North America over Canada's Treehouse TV cable series in 2004. The series' U.S. release occurred on September 9, 2006, courtesy of NBC.
