Der inszenierte Hunger ist eine Dokumentation von Jihan El-Tahir über Getreidehilfslieferungen aus Europa und USA nach Zambia. Inhalt: “Seit mehr als zwanzig Jahren wird Getreide nicht (nur) dort hingebracht, um Bedürftigen zu helfen, sondern um die Produktionsüberschüsse der hoch subventionierten Bauern in den USA, Kanada und Westeuropa abzubauen._x000D_ In den USA z.B. darf mit den Finanzhilfen für die Hungerbekämpfung nur US-amerikanisches Getreide gekauft und dann per Schiff dort hin gebracht werden. Für das gleiche Geld könnte man vor Ort auch doppelt so viel Getreide kaufen, weil die Preise niedriger sind und die langen Transportwege wegfallen würden._x000D_ Dazu kommt, dass US-amerikanisches Getreide größtenteils genverändert und teilweise patentiert ist, aber wehe die Hilfslieferungen werden abgelehnt.” Die Dokumentation wurde auf ARTE ausgestrahlt und erhielt 2004 den Medienpreis Entwicklungspolitik.
