Synopsis
John hasn't coped with his divorce at all well, so it's with gratitude that he accepts an invitation from his former spouse to a swanky LA party, where she thinks his love life might get the kick-start it needs. And so it proves, though under rather embarrassing circumstances. He meets the delightful, very sexy single mother Molly and the two hit it off immediately. She invites him round to her place - and that is when John's troubles begin, in the shape of her 21-year-old son Cyrus. Molly is the centre of the young stay-at-home techno musician's universe; his devotion to her is total (and, to her ignorance, seemingly not entirely wholesome) - and he's determined to stop anyone else from sharing her affection. Can John survive Cyrus's war of attrition to win Molly's hand? The directors put the awkward silences and semi-improvised dialogue of their two previous mumblecore independent outings to good effect in this, their first Hollywood movie.
