Synopsis
an aspiring surgeon. J.C. teaches his son that education is they key to obtaining the life that will bring them out of the inner city. Jeffrey befriends an Asian family that is new to the neighborhood and also values a friendship with Joey, whose single mother is struggling with an abusive relationship. Obtaining a better life is not an easy task for any of these people, but the knowledge that they will be stronger if they support each other's dreams is what gives them the strength to try.
