Synopsis
A poor Southern family tries to make a living as sharecroppers on the red Georgia clay. Claudelle (Diane McBain) ignores the wishes of her shrewish, domineering mother (Constance Ford) and chooses to marry a poor farmer (Chad Everett) instead of the wealthy landowner (Claude Akins). Her love is drafted by the army and jilts Claudelle, who become the town pump and begins her downward spiral.
