북한의 어느 소읍에 있는 화학공장 공원인 추명호는 여공원 하나와 깊은 관계에 빠져 임신 3개월에 이르며 두사람은 이 사실을 감춘다. 두 사람은 몰래 돈을 받고 유산수술을 해주는 노파 하나를 찾아내고 수술을 받았으나 여공은 목숨을 잃는다. 이에 충격을 받은 추명호는 여전사 하나를 강간하고 교살한다. 공장으로 돌아온 추명호는 작업도중 졸았다는 이유로 매를 맞은 어린 공원을 구출하고 동료공원을 선동한다. 폭동은 실패하고 많은 공원이 사살되며 구사일생으로 목숨을 건진 추명호는 자유를 찾아 월남하지만 총에 맞아 바다속으로 떨어져 죽는다. 북괴병들은 시체를 반환하라고 유엔측에 요구한다. 유엔측은 인도적 견지에서 추명호의 시체를 다시 북한에 돌려주겠다고 발표한다.
