It's 1945 in the Philippines when American Colonel Madden sets about leading a geurilla resistance against the Japanese. He is joined by middle-aged American schoolteacher Bertha Barnes, Captain Andres Bonifacio, son of a famous freedom fighter and his sweetheart Dalisay, who broadcasts Japanese propaganda while spying for the Americans. As the Japanese attempt to assert their rule over the Philippines, Madden's men are determined to do all they can to hold fort until the American army arrives.
