En 1964, André Robillard s’est mis à fabriquer des fusils avec des matériaux de récupération, ramassés au hasard de ses promenades dans l’hôpital psychiatrique où il vivait près d'Orléans. Aujourd’hui, à 87 ans, André demeure toujours dans cet hôpital, où il est entré à l’âge de neuf ans il y a 78 ans. Entre temps, il est devenu un artiste internationalement reconnu du champ de l’Art Brut. Lors d’un voyage d’André à l’Hôpital de Saint-Alban, en Lozère, pour présenter une création théâtrale à laquelle il participe, tout se relie enfin : l'Art Brut, la psychiatrie, la Résistance. L'histoire d'André Robillard croise en effet celle de la Psychothérapie Institutionnelle, véritable révolution du regard sur la folie, opérée au lendemain de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale.
