How Long Is “An American Opera”?

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Ann Arbor, Michigan-based filmmaker Tom McPhee travels to New Orleans in order to document the rescue of the storm's forgotten victims - pets. When the residents of New Orleans were forced to evacuate their homes and leave their beloved pets behind, America suffered its worst animal crisis in history. Thousands of animals were left behind to perish, and it appeared that no one would come to their rescue. But then something incredible happened: volunteers from across the globe descended on the city determined to rescue as many animals as possible. Their efforts hindered by bureaucratic red tape, the rescue workers quickly came to realize that in order to accomplish their mission, they would have to bend the rules.
