Synopsis
In this subtle character study of a rural Taiwanese family, Ku-cheng becomes bitter and heedless of the future when his beloved wife dies in childbirth. Leaving his children for his parents to raise, Ku-cheng leaves to work as a laborer. Tragedy strikes when Ku-cheng's mother is bedridden after a stroke.
